What is the Cancer Coalition Fund?
The Cancer Coalition, sponsored by the Richland County Health Department (RCHD) has established the Cancer Coalition Aid Fund. The Cancer Coalition, with approval of the sponsoring RCHD & County Commissioners, has selected the Foundation for Community Care to act as a fiduciary institution serving at will to the RCHD Director, the Richland County Commissioners and the Cancer Coalition active membership.
Who qualifies to receive funds?
The fund is designed to help individuals with a new cancer diagnosis and undergoing cancer treatment residing primarily in Richland County and those who seek care in Richland County. Patients in other Montana counties can be considered if seeking cancer treatment at the Cancer Care located in Sidney, Montana.
How do I apply?
To obtain an application:

What happens if I need to apply after hours or on a weekend?
Emergency requests for the Cancer Coalition Fund are expedited upon submission. SHC staff will work with the Cancer Coalition Fund Committee for application submission and review immediately.
Do I need to provide any other documentation?
You will need to provide a cancer care plan or treatment schedule from your current physician.
What is the deadline for the application?
Applications will be accepted at any time after diagnosis and start of treatment.
Will anyone know that I have applied?
As a healthcare agency we follow the same strict guidelines defined in HIPAA. No personal information is shared.
How much will be granted?
$500 will be granted per applicant.
A funding limit of one grant per patient, per cancer diagnosis will be set. If donated money is not completely used during one year, it will stay in the "Cancer Coalition Fund" and is available for the next year. Application fulfillment will be subject to fund availability, applications will be processed within 30 business days.
What expenses can be paid with Cancer Coalition Fund money?
The Cancer Coalition Fund supports cancer patients in offering assistance with non-medical household expenses. Excluded from assistance are travel costs, hospital, physician and prescription charges, as other local avenues are available for these needs.
When will a grant decision be made, and who makes the decision?
All grant applications will be processed for eligibility and presented to the Cancer Coalition Fund Committee for review and approval at their monthly meeting.
Who provides the financial support for the Cancer Coalition Fund?
Foundation donors may designate their contribution for the Cancer Coalition Fund throughout the year. In addition, annual fundraising efforts are made to supplement the Cancer Coalition Fund.
