  • What are the funding priorities for the Foundation for Community Care? Are there specific geographic boundaries? 
The Foundation for Community Care supports IRS-registered, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organizations that have a direct impact on health and healthcare related issues. Geographic boundaries include Richland County and eastern Montana. 

  • What types of public charities are eligible to apply to the Foundation for Community Care?
The Foundation for Community Care will consider applications from registered 501(c)(3) organizations. The Foundation for Community Care does not make grants to private foundations or for-profit entities.  

  • What is the average grant size and how much should I request? 
While there is no steadfast rule as to how much an applicant should request, you can view the breakdown of grants on our webpage to determine the Foundation for Community Care's average grant size. 

  •  Does the Foundation for Community Care award general operating grants?
Yes, grants are awarded for general operating, as well as program or project support.

  • Does the Foundation for Community Care provide continuous funding? 
In an effort to ensure the broadest response to the needs or our community, the Foundation for Community Care's policy requires organizations to submit applications annually regardless of prior funding. 

  • Does the Foundation for Community Care provide multi-year grants?
The Foundation for Community Care only awards one-year grants. Organizations who are able to stay in reporting compliance are welcome to apply for a grant annually. 

  • Does the Foundation for Community Care award grants for Capital Campaigns, Endowment Funds, Special Events or to Individuals? 
The Foundation for Community Care does not fund special events or assist individuals through the Healthcare Grant program.

  • How do I apply for a grant?

  • Are there application deadlines?
Healthcare Grant applications must be turned into the Foundation for Community Care by 4:00 PM on April 30, for consideration. 

  • To whom should my grant application be addressed?

  • Do I need to submit a Letter of Inquiry?
The Foundation for Community Care does not require a Letter of Inquiry prior to submitting an application for consideration. If you have specific questions related to your grant application, contact the Senior Executive at least 30 days prior to submission. 

  • May I apply for a grant via email or fax?
Due to the amount of information requested, the Foundation for Community Care does not accept applications via email or fax.

  • If we have sent a copy of our 501(c)(3) letter with applications submitted in the past, do we need to submit another copy?
Although prior applications are kept on file, it is essential to provide a 501(c)(3) letter annually to ensure current good standing.   

  • May I submit an application if I am missing information (e.g., financial audit), then submit the missing information once received? 
To ensure consideration for your organization, it is preferable that all attachments requested be included in your application at the time of submission. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis. However, every packet must include the completed application, project description, and project and/or organizational budget. 

  • If my organization is small and does not have an audit, what kind of financial information should be submitted? 
In place of an audit, your organization's Form 990 filed with the Internal Revenue Service may be submitted.
  • Once an application has been submitted, when will I be notified of the funding decision?
All organizations will receive notification verifying receipt of their application. The Foundation for Community Care Executive Team and Board of Directors will review each application individually, and organizations will be notified directly of a decision by May 31st.  

  • May I reapply if my organization was turned down in the past? If so, when?
Absolutely! You may apply every year when the grant application period opens at the beginning of March.

  • If I am awarded a grant, are there specific guidelines for submitting a grant report?
If you are awarded a grant, your grant report is due within 12 months of your grant award notification, prior to completing a new application request. Please see Grant Report Form.  The grant report is an evaluation by the grant recipient of the equipment or project funded. The Foundation for Community Care evaluates the outcomes of grant awards, and therefore the timely submission of a grant report is imperative. If grant recipients are unable to meet the reporting deadline, they must request the Foundation in writing or by phone one month prior to the due date.
