Purchases Made Possible by Endowment Fund

 

The Foundation for Community Care was founded in 1983 with the mission of “Helping to Ensure the Continuance of Quality Healthcare Services.” A portion of the earnings from the endowment fund are awarded each year to fund area healthcare needs, as you’ll read below. 100% of every donation made to the Foundation for Community Care stays in our community for current and future healthcare needs. 

Community Grants

Boys & Girls Club of Richland County

Healthy Food Initiative: Help to address issues of childhood obesity and hunger through the purchase a commercial food warming oven which will allow for safe handling of foods served at the Club. 

$2,000.00

Sidney Police Department

Control Bleeding Supplies: Help to create a universal source of supplies to Richland County First Responders, useful in instances of mass casualty or trauma situations. These supplies will standardize response across the Richland County Ambulance Service, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Sidney Police Department.

Fellowship Food Pantry

Outreach Projects & Subsidized Foods: Address the growing issue of food insecurity affecting a significant number of Richland County residents through the purchase of supplies, educational material and subsidized food products. 

$2,500.00

Richland Opportunities Incorporated (ROI)

“Healthy Me” Project: Support efforts to residents who have developmental, physical and mental disabilities to make healthy living a priority. Specifically, focused on the physical and emotional support offered by the “Get Wet” initiative to offer safe and monitored therapeutic water activities throughout the year.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department

Locking Mobile Medication Cart: Addressing security needs of a long term care facility through the purchase of a locking medication cart that can be used in resident rooms to eliminate medication mix-ups, improve visibility of residents, and maximize nurse time.

Crestwood Inn, Richland Affordable Housing

Refrigerated Salad Bar: An effort to provide heart-healthy and diabetic-friendly food options through fresh vegetables provided to disabled and aging populations living in a low-income housing facility. 

$5,885.00

Sidney Public Schools

Biology Anatomage Table: Assist local students and community members in their pursuit of careers in the medical field, agriculture and other STEM-related fields. Purchase equipment to integrate technology in the classroom in a standards-based instruction setting to level the playing field for rural students to attend pre-medical programs in college.

Sidney Health Center

Extended Care, Angel Avenue

Outdoor Enrichment Pergola Project: Outdoor beautification project to increase quality of life for long-term care residents by implementing an enriched resident focused “Awakening” program for those affected by Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Nursing/Inpatient

Bariatric Bed & Mattress: Purchase of an extra heavy-duty and extra wide bed to increase the safety and comfort of larger patients in the hospital setting, helping to prevent injuries and bedsores. 

$5,150.00

Audiology & Hearing Aid Services

Wireless Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) Equipment: Funding to replace essential equipment used to diagnose hearing issues. Use is specific to pediatric patients too young for normal diagnostic audiological assessment tests.

Extended Care, Rehabilitation Therapy

Restorative Program: Purchase a Nustep Cross Trainer and MoveMor Lower Body Trainers to facilitate a program of physical movement and increase mobility for residents in long-term care. 

$7,087.00

Respiratory Care

Vapotherm High Flow O2: Purchase equipment to assist in the treatment of respiratory distress and failure. This mask-less alternative to traditional therapies allows the patient to speak, eat and drink without a disruption in therapy.

Pharmacy

Compounding Isolator Adjustment: Modification of the hood/isolator used to prepare chemotherapy medication for cancer care’s pharmacy.Modification of this type is important to ensure compliance with US safe handling guidelines of hazardous drugs.

Radiology

C-View for Mammography: Upgrade current software used during mammography exams to reduce the amount of radiation exposure to the patient. 

$24,500.00

Respiratory Care

CareFusion Whole Body Plethysmograph: Perform pulmonary function testing to assess lung function, specifically to aid in the diagnosis of lung disease. The purchase of a “Body Box” is considered an essential component of a cancer care supporting pulmonary lab.

Radiology

CT-Vitrea Reconstruction Workstation: CT 3D technology reconstructs three-dimensional visual representations of 2D image slices from CT and MRI machines. Additional options aid in the measurement and more accurate diagnosis of diseases, useful to a variety of areas, including Cancer Care, Ear/Nose/Throat, Interventional Radiology, Orthopedics and General Practice. 

$61,787.00

Surgery

Carestation 650 Anesthesia Machines: Replace and upgrade two vitally important surgical care machines. Anesthesia is often a major part of any surgery, it allows patients to be pain free during the procedure. At Sidney Health Center, anesthetics are provided by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a professional who specializes in anesthesia care. SHC currently has the ability to provide a variety of surgical procedures, dependent upon access to crucial anesthetic care.
